Built to compete in the new World Superbike series which first began in 1988, the RC30 used the engine architecture of the 90 degree V four VFR750 which was introduced in 1984 in an aluminum perimeter beam frame with a single sided swingarm. Although the engine architecture of the RC30 is similar to the VFR750 and their engines have the same bore and stroke, there are virtually no shared parts. The RC30 is a 360 degree crank V four engine with gear driven cams while the VFR750 is a 180 degree crank V four with chain driven cams. The RC30 used shim under bucket valve clearance adjusters while the VFR750 used screw adjusters. The RC30 is a much more compact engine than the VFR engine. Ridden by American Fred Merkel, the RC30 won the World Superbike championship in 1988 and 1989, which were the first two years of the series.

This bike is a European model which was imported to Canada and then imported by me from Canada to the U.S. in 2017. It is completely stock except for its tires.
